Our approach to bespoke restoration
Restoring a classic car is not about applying a ready-made recipe. Every car arrives with its own history, its condition and the use its owner expects from it, whether on the open road, on a historic rally or for occasional outings. We always start with a full diagnosis to tell apart what must be rebuilt from what can be kept. This step avoids needless work and preserves the car's authenticity as far as possible.
Then comes the mechanical side, where Bernis Factory adds the most value. Our engine engineer maps the engine and gearbox case by case, never reusing a generic setting that would ignore the car in front of him. Running gear, braking and handling are reworked to recover sound behaviour true to the original spirit. The cosmetic parts such as paint, trim or detailing are entrusted to specialised partners, in coordination with our workshop, for a consistent result from the engine through to the finish.
Classic car restoration in Signes and around Le Castelet
Bernis Factory is located at 26 Allée de Dublin in Signes, in the Var. Being 700 metres from the Paul Ricard circuit shapes our business and feeds our expertise in high-end sports cars. Enthusiasts from the region and owners passing through Le Castelet find a workshop able to restore a classic car while knowing how to prepare it for the road or the track. Our three trades, maintenance, preparation and restoration, complement each other in the service of your car.
Classic car restoration: preserving a sports car's character
A classic car already has character, and any restoration must respect it. At Bernis Factory, we approach these cars with the same care as the high-end sports cars we prepare every day, from Ferrari to BMW M, including Mercedes AMG, Porsche and Nissan GT-R. The goal is not to turn the car into something else, but to make it reliable and recover the feel that built its reputation. Every operation therefore starts from the real use the owner has in mind.
This bespoke logic runs through every step, from the initial diagnosis to the final engine tuning. Rather than a standard map, our engine engineer works each engine individually, so the mechanics stay consistent with the spirit of the model. Being close to the Paul Ricard circuit also lets us validate the behaviour of a restored car under demanding conditions. Restoring a classic car ultimately means preparing a lasting sports car, one that can be driven and maintained over time.
To have your car's authenticity recognised or to obtain a classic vehicle registration, you can get in touch with the French Federation of Historic Vehicles.
