What our MOT preparation covers

Our MOT preparation goes through the key points checked at an approved testing centre, with the eye of a workshop specialised in high-end sports cars.

Electronic diagnosis

Reading fault codes, checking ECUs and driver-assist systems before the official roadworthiness test.

Braking and handling

Checking brake balance, the condition of discs, pads, suspension and running gear to pass the mandatory points.

Emissions and exhaust

Checking the exhaust line, engine and engine map to stay within the limits, without altering the car's character.

Lighting and cabin

Reworking lights, signalling and cabin safety points that often catch a car out on its roadworthiness test.

Our approach to MOT preparation

Preparing a sports car for its roadworthiness test takes more than running through a standard checklist. We start with a full diagnosis, electronic and mechanical, to spot the points likely to cause trouble at the testing centre. The aim is simple: avoid a return visit for a major defect and not waste time.

Our engine engineer then checks the engine map, emissions and the car's behaviour, before going back over visible items such as lighting, signalling and running gear. This bespoke approach, which we apply every day to the high-end sports cars we prepare, fits perfectly with a regulatory step.

Frequently asked questions about MOT preparation

Do you carry out the roadworthiness test on site?

No, we are not an approved testing centre. Our role is to prepare the car beforehand so it shows up in the best condition at the centre of your choice.

Which cars do you prepare for the MOT?

We work on the high-end sports cars we prepare every day, such as Ferrari, BMW M, Mercedes AMG, Porsche or Nissan GT-R, as well as youngtimers and classic cars.

How long does it take?

The time depends on the car's condition and the points to rework. After an initial diagnosis we tell you which work is needed and how long it will take.

Can you step in after a failed roadworthiness test?

Yes. Send us the report from the approved centre and we will go through the listed defects together, to fix them and validate the retest.

Where is your workshop?

Our Bernis Factory workshop is located at 26 Allée de Dublin in Signes, in the Var, 700 metres from the Paul Ricard circuit. We welcome sports cars from the region and visitors passing through Le Castelet.

MOT preparation: why a specialist sports car workshop?

A high-end sports car is not prepared for its roadworthiness test like a daily driver. Engine tuning, braking and handling are more demanding, and a small flaw can be enough to push the test into a retest. At Bernis Factory, we approach this preparation with the same method as our preparation and maintenance services: a full diagnosis, then targeted work.

Our engine engineer checks each engine individually, which lets us tune the map or the exhaust line to stay within the limits without altering the car. Being close to the Paul Ricard circuit also lets us validate the behaviour after the work, under demanding conditions. You leave for the testing centre with a coherent sports car, ready to pass with confidence.
