What is bespoke chassis tuning?

Chassis tuning covers all the settings that define how a car behaves: its roadholding, its balance and the precision of its responses. At Bernis Factory, it never comes down to an off-the-shelf recipe. We start from your car, its real-world use and your expectations to define the work to carry out on the suspension and running gear, rather than applying a standard setup that would ignore the car in front of us.

This bespoke logic is the same one that guides our engine mapping: every sports car is treated individually. Whether you drive mostly on the road, aim for track days or look for a compromise between the two, the goal stays the same, to make the behaviour more coherent and more enjoyable, without diluting your car's character.

Our chassis tuning method in Signes

Our approach starts by understanding how you use your car. A chassis built for the road favours comfort and versatility, while a track-oriented setup looks for more precision and stability at high speed. We define this starting point together before any work begins, so that the result genuinely matches the way you drive.

Work on the chassis is carried out in line with the rest of the preparation: engine, gearbox and braking all move in the same direction. Our workshop brings together three trades, maintenance, preparation and restoration, which lets us treat your sports car as a whole rather than in isolation. You keep a single point of contact from the diagnosis through to the test drives.

Road and track

Which chassis settings should you prioritise for a car driven on both road and track?

A car used both on the open road and for track days cannot be set up like one dedicated to a single use. The point is not to stiffen everything, but to find the compromise that stays enjoyable every day while gaining precision when the pace rises. Here are the levers we look at first, always according to your car and the way you drive.

Ride height and stance
Lowering the centre of gravity improves grip, but a car that sits too low hurts comfort and ground clearance. We look for the stance that stays liveable on the road while remaining effective on track.
Adjustable damping
Coilovers with separate settings let you soften the car for the road and firm it up before a track session, without starting from scratch each time the use changes.
Geometry: camber and toe
A little more camber helps in fast corners but wears the tyres faster day to day. Toe is chosen between straight-line stability and turn-in sharpness, depending on the balance you are aiming for.
Anti-roll bars and stiffness
They control body roll and the balance between front and rear. Correctly dialled in, they make the behaviour healthier on track without making the car uncomfortable on rough roads.
Tyres suited to the use
The choice of tyres and pressures often matters as much as the mechanical settings. A versatile tyre or a second set dedicated to the track makes a real difference for a dual-use car.
Coherence with engine and braking
A chassis is never set up in isolation: it must match the available power and braking that can keep up. We move the whole car in the same direction rather than optimising a single area.

There is therefore no universal setting, but a balance to define together, starting from your main use and the character you want the car to keep.

Chassis tuning and the Paul Ricard circuit

Our workshop is located 700 metres from the Paul Ricard circuit at Le Castelet. This closeness changes a lot for chassis tuning: we can support owners before, during and after a track session, and check our settings against the reality of the track. As an official BMW M France partner for track support and recommended by ORECA, we also have a recovery truck to step in directly on site if needed.

Chassis tuning in Signes and around Le Castelet

Bernis Factory is based at 26 Allée de Dublin in Signes, in the Var. This location, a few minutes from the Paul Ricard circuit and Le Castelet, shapes our work around high-end sports cars: Ferrari, Mercedes AMG, Nissan GT-R, Porsche or BMW. Whether you are local or passing through to drive on the circuit, you will find a workshop able to handle your car's chassis tuning along with its other mechanical needs.

Frequently asked questions about chassis tuning

What is chassis tuning at Bernis Factory?
It is the set of adjustments that improve how your car behaves: roadholding, balance and precision. We approach it case by case, starting from your sports car and its use, without applying any generic setup.
Is chassis tuning suitable for both road and track use?
Yes. We define the desired direction with you, from road comfort to the sharpness sought on track, or a compromise between the two. Being close to the Paul Ricard circuit helps us validate the settings in real conditions.
Do you work on the chassis alongside the engine and braking?
Yes. Our workshop brings together maintenance, preparation and restoration, which lets us move the engine, gearbox, braking and chassis in the same direction, with a single point of contact.
Which cars do you handle for chassis tuning?
We work on the high-end sports cars we prepare every day, such as Ferrari, BMW M, Mercedes AMG, Porsche or Nissan GT-R, for both road and track use.
Do you give a price for chassis tuning?
No, because every preparation is bespoke and depends on your car and its intended use. The simplest step is to contact us so we can study your project and suggest a suitable course of action.
Which chassis settings should you prioritise to drive on both road and track?
There is no single setting: it is all about compromise. We focus first on ride height, adjustable damping, geometry (camber and toe), anti-roll bars and tyre choice, to keep the car enjoyable every day while gaining precision on track. Each setting is defined with you according to your car and your main use.

Chassis tuning designed for high-end sports cars

Finding a workshop that approaches chassis tuning with a genuinely bespoke logic is not that common. Many simply fit parts without considering how the owner drives. Bernis Factory instead starts from your car and the way you use it to define the work on the running gear, with the same care it brings to engine mapping.

Based in Signes, 700 metres from the Paul Ricard circuit, our workshop brings together the maintenance, preparation and restoration of high-end sports cars. Chassis tuning naturally fits in, in line with the engine and braking, for cars that are as pleasant on the road as they are effective on track. Tell us about your project and we will work out the next steps together.
